You Need a Digital Tuner

Check your television to see if it has a digital tuner. If it is fairly new, it will have one. If not, you will need to buy a converter box. If you’re not sure, try the following steps without it. If it works, then you have one. If not, then you must go buy one. Here are some links for information on which one to buy.

Any of them will do so don’t fret too much. They generally range in price from $40 to $80. If you apply before they run out, you can get a $40 coupon from http://www.dtv2009.gov/.

Note: If you have other equipment connected to your television such as a digital video recorder, they might also have built-in digital tuners. Check the documentation that comes with your equipment. For instance, I have a Magnavox H2160MW9 A (HDD & DVD Player/Recorder with Digital Tuner) so I can use this to get my channels.
